Hi, I just wrote a post and it was eaten somehow, so I'll try again! I have had a serious illness for four years that resulted in “facial wasting.” I am looking into fat grafting. Based on feedback on the net, and other 1) dr coleman 2) dr Carraway 3) dr Berman 4) dr law
Anyone have any thoughts on these doctors? Thank-you |

hi there. from all of my research this past year i believe that you could not go wrong with berman, lam, and law. i believe coleman is a huge risk because there are many complaints that he is too aggressive. i have never heard of carraway.
i have had a full face fat transfer with berman.
i hope your illness is in some sort of remission. i wish you all the best.
I had fat transfer w/ berman and my friend as well.
It's good - went 2 x - 2nd time is what really "took" but its not a cure all. I wanted to correct my nasal labial folds and he said it would help and it really didn't. In reality it's part of a combo treatment needed - in my case anyway: fat grafting, sculptra, juvederm.. Anyway you slice it it adds up to lots of mone with no guarentee but overall, it was worth it my face had lost volume.
When I see Madonna it reminds me of what I looked like immediately after - super high cheeks -
Hey Holly, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been ill. I think f/g will make a nice recovery gift to yourself. Of the f/g docs on your list I've only consulted with Dr M Law because I have a friend who got good conservative results and fair retention with Law.
It might depend on how aggressive (how filled) you want to be and how much price plays into your decision. I'm sure you've read negative feedback on Dr C, but some say his f/g retains well. You'd have to be specific about what you want. I'm not consulting with Dr C b/c I want just a small amount of volume plus he's pricey.

Lalala's friend here! I was VERY happy with Dr B. Lalala is right, it isn't a cure all, but the retention was good and he was an artist. He didn't put too much in, but just enough.
Where I've noticed the fat grafting the most is in the overall look of my face. It isn't something you can point to, but the effect is of a younger, well-rested, happy face.
Dr B studies old pictures of you before he does anything. His staff was really nice and soothing.
I also called Dr Law's office but didn't get a good feeling due to the many unreturned calls.
I hope you find the procedure that is right for you and that you feel better soon.
Thanks for posting Athena. I'm making a consult list of f/g docs to see in the new yr and I forgot about Dr B. I like that he studies pix of your younger self. Cool. To me that's the whole idea with f/g, to get back the fullness where it was lost or deminished.

thanks for the feedback everyone. It's so hard to know what to do. Dr b defintely gets the most positive feedback on the net...based on that he's the guy to go to. on the other hand, i've heard from a doc i respected that he is known as not being very good in medical circles. I just don't know what to do..
holly - what have you heard specifically about berman in the medical community? that seems such a general statement. not good at what? fat grafting? surgery? ethics? etc.

Yes, I'd like to know what you've heard in the medical community as well. I worked for a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills for a while. i learned a few things about doctors doing that-- and I'm pretty picky.
I was really happy with dr B-- and his staff, the sterility of the environment, etc. But most of all, his results.
doctors have their own circle. I've seen doctors bad mouth another doctor just because they do things differently. On the other hand, a good doctor always knows how to find the best doctor in any field. By good doctor, I mean not only good at what they do, but ethical and decent as a person. These forums are where I found Dr B (the other forum which is not not working very well). ssatisfied customers are worth a lot in my opinion.
It's a tough decision, I'm sure -- good luck.
